Cutie 4.8 2002 - YUKI interview
Interviewer - Sekida Tomoko

"Be honest to myself. Work and fashion, they are the most important."

YUKI: I'm doing great this year! Seriously *laugh*. I can make anything the way I want it (since breaking up with JAM). It seems like everything feels greater now because I'm alone. At work "When I make good songs let's just keep on releasing / let's keep on going" that's my stance, I'm also having fun in my private life. I neatly prepare my food, I read Okamoto Taro's 'Today's Art', I go to the gym once a week, I drink 'Sarasara Kirei-cha', I put 'binchoutan' (smoked wood logs) in my bath... oh geez! It's an extrememly healthy life isn't it *laugh*!

Interviewer: It's been a year since JAM's break up and her solo album is complete, YUKI is really enjoying 2002. This time -to show us 100% of her- is has become a photo session with her make-up and styling.

YUKI: Recently there have been a lot of people out there saying to dress down, but I'm the opposite. "Are you going to a party?" is the kinds of cloths I'm wearing *laugh*. Today I'm wearing my favorite Bernheart Wilhelm item, I also really like Hussein Charahyan. Also, now this season, Tsumori Chisato is really cute, so you can't miss it! At any shop when I think something looks "good!" I buy it that second. I don't even try it on. That's my personality, not to think too much about it *laugh*.

Interviewer: As she speaks, she changes into her spring clothes that she bought by instinct. She wears these stranges clothes in a very normal way (it looks very modern!) and it looks great. When we ask her tips on her fashion...

YUKI: To tell you the truth, I wear it because I want to *laugh*. In other words, I just want to be honest with myself. I think about what I want to do, what I want to see, and what I want to listen to first of all, and I consider 'being looked at' as sixth. Not only in fashion, but for everything I do.

Interviewer: So that means in her first album you're able to feel her heart and her honest feelings. Alongside Seagull (Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her)'s Higurashi Aiha, Spitz, and all the different cooperating artists that created the twelve songs, her feelings about things that are 'Fun!' and 'Cool!' are stuffed in the album. That's why it's rock. Including songs that make you tear up, this is the rock album.

YUKI: The concept of this album is 'not to think'. Being honest with myself, I look for songs that match me. While I make a song, first of all (in my head) I get a rhythm . When I follow the rhythm "huh, this rhythm is for Kin-chan (Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra's Motegi Kinichi)" or "I'll make Spitz do it for me!" that's what I thought. That's why this time I had a lot of people help me out, because they were needed.

Interviewer: By the way, 'PRISMIC' is a prism (the sound of light) to YUKI. Because of the way she is, it just came out that way, I believe.

YUKI: When a person get's put into darkness, they try to walk toward the light. I made this album with that same instinct. It makes me very happy if a person that listens to my CD feels that "ah, (by personality) we're connected."
