   The sound of light!

I've done reviews on all of the singles leading up to and surrounding this album, but how can I really piece them all together to give a clear enough picture of how truly amazing this album is? In short; This album is a complete masterpiece, it's absolutly YUKI at her very best! There is not one song that stands out as any better than the rest, but this is not because all of the songs are middle of the road, no. It's because all of the songs are HITS! Each piece was developed by YUKI, and then handed 'instinctually' to one of her various big name friends for composing - like Spitz, Andy Sturmer (ex-Jellyfish), Carole King (who has worked with Barbara Striesand), and Motegi Kinichi of the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchaestra.

In an interview with Cutie magazine on the topic of 'PRISMIC' YUKI said two things; First, this album was created by her 'go out and get it, follow whatever your heart tells you' instinct, and second, she said that if someone listens to her music and thinks "Ah, we are connected [as by personality]" that is her greatest reward. Freedom, Connection, Instinct, Everything that makes you happy and free... that is what this album is all about! She feels better now that she's solo, and you can hear it in her powerful vocals!

When enjoying her solo music it's a good idea to forget your favorite Judy and Mary songs, or you might be dissapointed when it sound totally different. True YUKI fans, however, will welcome this unique and fresh change in style. The songs are all under three minutes in length, for her first album I'm sure we're all waiting for those extended mixes! 'the end of shite' is an all around excellent song. Yuki calls it a perfect love song. While it still has the classic Yuki rasp she sometimes slips into she's, as I said before, dropped most of the high pitches. It's very Yuki! 'bed' is a very slow, short, and mellow song. She sings with the deepest voice I've ever heard her use, and she took on a whisper (similar to Chara). 'Count Backwards' gives a little of the old Yuki sound, she lets off some of her old sassy personality and uses some higher pitches. I think this whole single shows how she has been very influenced by her work with Mean Machine and Chara.
